WMAW serves to educate, advocate and support animal welfare in Custer County and rural areas of Fremont County. Our primary objective is to build and maintain an animal shelter in the Westcliffe/Silvercliff area. WMAW provides resources to pet owners, including low-cost microchip clinics, an effective Lost and Found Facebook page, and the Pet Waggin program which helps feed dogs and cats in need weekly. OTHER OBJECTIVES: • Promote the responsible and humane treatment of animals • Find homes for stray/abandoned animals • Assist with the re-homing of pets for owners no longer able to take care of them • Refer pet owners to low-cost spay/neuter programs and veterinary medical assistance and financial aid • Establish a strong working relationship with local law enforcement • Assist in emergency cases of animal abuse/neglect • Network with shelters and licensed rescue groups in Colorado • Fundraise to support its objectives
