Upright Canine Brigade began it's journey in 2012 and incorporated in 2015. Our Mission... The Upright Canine Brigade Inc. educates dog owners on the symptoms and management techniques for Canine Megaesophagus (ME). Through education, we hope more animals will be properly diagnosed and pet owners provided best-practices for disease maintenance. S H A R E Program Since its inception in October of 2012, our sole purpose for forming the UCB is to spread awareness of Canine Megaesophagus and the diseases that can cause it. We are accomplishing this through our SHARE program Support, HeadLines, Awareness, Research and Education. The UCB attends vet conferences and pet events all over the US and Canada. We educate the general public about Canine Megaesophagus, the signs and symptoms and explain how it can be managed. We update vets on the latest techniques and research on MegaE. We also print and distribute thousands of pamphlets on ME and on myasthenia gravis, a disease frequently seen in conjunction with MegaE. We also provide a poster for vets offices on MegaE. We have an informative website with helpful tips, recipes and so much more. Currently we have 7000 members on our facebook group, Upright Canine Brigade, supporting one another through this disease. We also have an outreach program called "The Buffy Project" that assist rescues and shelters with megaesophagus animals, providing life saving feeding chairs, neck hugs, prescription food, transportation fees and medical assistance. Each year we donate to research projects conducted by veterinary schools through our "Calendars for Research" program. We believe that Together We Can Make A Difference!
