Hi- my name is John Elkinton - From the late, great Ronnie James Dio... to bands that span multiple generations... to music fans of all ages... "The Rock Sign", formed by extending the index and little fingers while holding the middle and ring fingers down with the thumb, is a hand gesture with a variety of meanings and uses. Whatever the derivation may be, the sign eventually came to signify that someone, gesturing this rock sign him or herself, is encouraging the recipient of the gesture to rock, and/or that he/she emphatically appreciates the rocking that has already commenced.
