Discrimination in the fashion industry remains a significant issue, despite ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity. Recently, Milan Fashion Week launched a new initiative to combat discriminatory practices within the industry. This effort, supported by the Italian National Fashion Chamber and a governmental anti-discrimination office, aims to trace, identify, and address bias against underrepresented groups, including women and people of color. Despite these steps forward, challenges persist. Actress and designer Danielle Brooks has highlighted the issue of size discrimination, noting that many high-profile designers refuse to create outfits for her due to her curvy figure. Brooks, known for her work with the plus-size brand Universal Standard, emphasizes the need for greater inclusivity and recognition of diverse body types in fashion​ (Essence)​. Moreover, the visibility and promotion of Black designers are gradually improving. Milan Fashion Week, for instance, showcased emerging Black designers such as BruceGlen and Sabirah, demonstrating a commitment to diversity on the runway.
