Back in the summer of 2018, I was gifted a painting of my beloved dog Cody that had passed the prior year. It brought me to tears with it's beautiful, powerful likeness. I then decided to give a similar gift back...but instead of paying someone to paint an animal portrait, I decided to try my hand at painting one myself! I have always been crafty, and had dabbled in sketching, but had no formal art training. So I went to a craft store, bought a cheap set of watercolors, a brush, and some paper. From that moment on, I was hooked! I started researching and practicing and spending lots of money on increasingly better supplies. Painting became the ultimate stress reliever for me and soon my friends began asking for pet portrait commissions! Wow! What a thrilling feeling to have something that I created out of pure love of the art, to be seen as something that others would pay money for. So I continue to paint, and learn, and grow, and share my little slice of happiness with others.
