I am Chickasaw and I was born, raised, and currently live in Oklahoma. I attended South East High School in Oklahoma City and later went on to Platt College where I studied illustration, design, and art. I have worn many different hats and have picked up quite a few skills along my path. I consider my work to be an experimentation with Contemporary Native American Impressionism. Maybe what I attempt is simply an evolution of a culture that has been swept up in assimilation. My goal is to tell my story of my people as I learned it and as I see it. Some of my pieces come from my dreams, some of them come from what’s bottled up inside, some come from living, and some of them come from my friends and family. With each day that passes, so too does another Elder and all the knowledge they held in our languages, our customs, and our beliefs. We are in a desperate struggle to hold onto our culture as we attempt to pass it on to the next generation. So much of what we had has been lost and there is no getting it back.
