The first incarnation of Cherry Wagon Designs dates back to the summer of 1972, when I was five and my brother, Mike, was six. Nearly every morning after breakfast, Mike and I would grab stacks of brown lunch bags from the kitchen and climb the cherry trees in our quarter-acre backyard in Sunnyvale, California. We'd spend about an hour filling the bags with blood-red Bing cherries, lining them up in neat rows in our battered Radio Flyer wagon. As soon as we finished, we'd roam the neighborhood, knocking on doors and selling the fruit at 25 cents a bag to whomever happened to be home at the time. Few people were strong enough to resist the two eager little salesmen on their porch, so it was a rare day when we weren’t back home within an hour with an empty wagon and pockets filled with quarters and crinkled dollar bills. I no longer need to climb trees to make a living, but the same spirit of adventure and commitment that drove me as a five-year-old lives on. I hope you enjoy the designs in the Cherry Wagon catalog.
