<b>What is <a href="http://www.burbia.com">Burbia</a>?</b> Burbia is a state of mind. Well, not entirely of mind. It's also a website and a content developer and a place to get entertained, to entertain yourself and others, and a dynamic evolving community centered around all things suburban and the suburban lifestyle. Burbia is the suburbs . . . with attitude. With fun, edge, cool and hipness. It's a place and perspective that has fun with, enjoys, pokes fun at, revels in, illuminates and, yes, sometimes commiserates around everything that is the burbs and the people who live here. Who lives in the suburbs (besides us)? Well, over 175 million people in America today, and that's not even counting those who live in cities in basically suburban fashion. We're talking about all the people who live in houses, who own cars, drive in car pools, commute, deal (miserably) with plumbers and roofers and furnace repair men and lawns and weeds and BBQs and block parties and blockhead neighbors. Burbia is a place that treats the burbs, the suburban lifestyle and the people who live here, with respect and shared understanding and a good fresh sense of humor. What you see now on the website is just the beginning. Burbia will be rolling out regularly all kinds of great features and tools that let you and us communicate and talk better, share things, and entertain and be entertained -- from message boards and video, to new kinds of news and information tools, shopping and even actual and virtual reality and fictional audio-video programming. Burbia is and will become in all ways everything that you (we) in suburbia want it to be. <b>Who exactly are we?</b> We're the B-Team. (There is no "A"-Team. The "B-Team" is the A-Team of the 21st century.) We're a group of seasoned (i.e., tired and wise and knowing and long-time commuting) suburbanites -- who consider ourselves just as hip and cool and funny and sophisticated (and frustrated and pissed and sometimes skeptical, even cynical once in a while) as those people who live in the cities. A lot of us used to live in cities -- for a long time. Some of us miss the cities. Others of us miss the cities like an exploding water heater. But we all think living in the burbs -- and those of us who live here -- are kind of a world of our own; and we think it -- we -- deserve a center and place to go to laugh and share and play and vent and help define in new ways our collective experience. We're also former -- and in some cases current -- creative and other folks in the media industry. New media, the web; also TV, film, print publishing. Which means we know how to upload stuff so you can see it quickly and react, and we also know how to program our DVRs, so while we're uploading, we can make sure we don't miss the latest episodes of The Sopranos or Entourage or Weeds or 24.
