Snow-Covered Torii Path in a Remote Mountain Shrine, Japan A quiet path of traditional wooden torii gates covered in snow, photographed at a secluded shrine deep in the mountains of the Kansai region of Japan. This is not an easily accessible tourist destination. Reaching the area requires traveling into a remote part of the mountains, and even within Japan it is a place that relatively few people visit. The snow, old wooden gates, stone steps, and surrounding forest created a rare winter landscape that felt completely separated from everyday life. Rather than photographing a famous landmark, I wanted to preserve the stillness and atmosphere of a place that is normally difficult to encounter. Real place. Natural winter light.
