Emblem of South Korea. The National Emblem of the Republic of Korea (Hanl: 대:한:민:국; Hanguja의; Hangu) consts of the taeeek symbol present on the country's national flag surrounded by five stylized als and a ribbon bearing the Inschrift "The Republic of Korea" ehan Minguk), the official name of the country, in Hangul characters. Die Taegeuk repräsentiert Frieden und Harmony. The five petals all have meaning and are related to Korea's national flower (The Hibiscus syriacus, or Rose of Sharon). It was adopted in 1963.
