More information.......This print appears to be from a 1906 Oil Painting by Walter Hunt titled "RESCUE OF A LOST FRIEND ". Here is the story of the print....." The Shepherd dog is a faithful, beautiful animal, trained through generations for his work. He displays remarkable intelligence and courage and has no fear for his own safety when one of his flock is in danger. In this picture we see him in a typically characteristic attitude. A storm having suddenly come up, the shepherd, with the aid of his faithful dog, has hurriedly driven his flock to safety. But one lamb is missing, and the dog, true to his trust, sets out in search of the missing lamb.................He pushes onward through the blinding blizzard and finally, at the foot of a hill, discovers a motionless object, helpless in the snow---a lamb half frozen by the cold. Then braced against the wind, the fearless, faithful dog stands guardian over the lost member of the flock, as he sends out his call for help. What a wonderful lesson in trustworthiness, fidelity, faithfulness, tenderness and perseverance........."
