I had the vision for a red and green celestial winter solstice card, but I wanted to add a bit of moodiness to it... Something for the stoics and more serious personalities to relate to that was still festive and seasonal. I think we all know what it's like to go through the motions of participating in a holiday we don't really care about in order to keep others happy, so I wanted to have a deep, foreboding element to the design in order to draw focus to the depth of people's emotions around the holidays. I wanted to demonstrate that feeling averse to or indifferent about the supposed cheer of the season is okay. It shows we're assessing cultural indoctrination on a level other people aren't, without writing off their enthusiasm.
