Smiling Sun From NASA Solar Observatory

This image of a turbulent sun looks like a happy smiling face. It was captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, a satellite that has been observing the Sun since 2010. The dark patches that look like eyes and a mouth are actually coronal holes that are cooler regions. Turbulence on the surface of the sun can result in solar storms that produce beautiful Auroras and interfere with radio and satellite communications.
