Seed Pods

This design collection is based on the dry seed pods of Hibiscus. It is a lovely textural treasure found in nature, in late summer. Normally I make a painting of a species and then create a design collection based on it. But there form and structural beauty offered a stunning sculptural design. So I decided to do it in a novel way. They were artistically arranged first and then their digital images were made with a camera. Two versions were created, one with a sunny look and one in shade. Finally these were thoughtfully formatted by hand on products for daily use. To enrich the world of interior design, they have been formatted on wallpaper and ceramic tiles as well, so as to bring the novelty of their natural beauty indoors.
