JWST Image of Planet Jupiter in Infrared

This unique and stunning image was taken by the James Webb Space Telescope Near-Infrared Camera or NIRCam using 3 infrared filters and then mapped onto the visible spectrum. Redder colors are longer wavelengths and bluer colors are the shorter wavelengths of the IR spectrum. Auroras are seen a the North and South poles of the planet Jupiter The great “red” spot is a storm in the planet’s atmosphere.
