Immanuel, God With Us

This is an original artwork created for Intown Community Church's Advent 2018 season by Christina Wert. It's oil pastel on black cardstock, with colored pencil writing on glued shapes. The star of Bethlehem hovers between two angel wings, with names of God written on feathers, and eyes (like the angels of Ezekiel 10:12). The light of the star reaches earth, creating a spark that becomes a flame--for Jesus is Immanuel (Matthew 1:23), and the light of the world (John 8:12)--and foreshadowing the coming of the Holy Spirit like tongues of fire (Acts 2:3-4).
