Fourteenth Amendment Public Debt

The fourteenth amendment to the United States Constitution expressly states that “The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.” This essential nullifies the effect of a debt limit or debt ceiling and allows the Treasury to continue paying debt already incurred by the government.
