Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Joan of Arc

Designs inspired by a colorful and dramatic painting by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (Joan of Arc, 1882). The picture shows a sensual warrior-maid in a battlefield tent decorated with Fleur de Lys motifs. Her eyes are turned towards heaven and she is kissing the Sword of Deliverance as she makes her final prayers before battle. This is the Rossetti's last painting, being finished within a few days of his death.
